Description:
  • Client has an immediate opportunity for FULL-TIME support to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Expeditionary Programs and Logistics Management (DASN(E&LM)). 
  • DASN(E&LM) has four primary missions; provide focus on research, development and acquisition of systems which enable the combat effectiveness of operating forces in an expeditionary role; oversee and coordinate activities in support of urgent needs across the Department of the Navy (DON); oversee and coordinate policy for the DON’s acquisition logistics and acquisition logistics workforce, and; serve as DON property lead to ensure adequate policy for accountability and management of tangible personal property is in place and effective across the DON. 
  • This position provides direct support to the DASN(E&LM) Chief of Staff (COS).  The assigned place of performance is on site with the client in the Pentagon.  Travel less than 10% of the time.

Specific job role includes but is not limited to:

  • Understand DASN(E&LM) priorities, monitor activities across the organization to ensure alignment with priorities and identify opportunities for closer coordination and areas of potential risk.
  • Analyze, assess, consult with COS or other DASN(E&LM) personnel, and assign work that originates outside DASN(E&LM) which comes through the front office via formal and informal means.  Acquire information about priority and/or time sensitive work performed across the organization which was not assigned directly through the front office.
  • Utilize existing, develop new and maintain tools to track and display status of all key activities as determined by COS.  Engage with DASN(E&LM) action officers to validate status, identify insights, issues, and resource requirements needed to accomplish key tasks.  Keep DASN(E&LM) and COS informed of status of key activities and identify opportunities for shifting suspense dates, adjusting work, and/or providing resources to subordinate offices in order to accomplish DASN(E&LM) priorities and meeting required suspense dates.
  • Manage, monitor and delegate tasks internal and external to DASN(E&LM); coordinate responses to tasks across DASN(E&LM) and functional areas to develop a coordinated response in a timely manner.
    Engage with counterparts across ASN(RD&A) to facilitate the work of the DASN(E&LM) staff.
  • Engage with DASN(ELM) staff to identify systemic issues that adversely affect mission accomplishment.
Requirements:

The successful candidate must be able to work independently and will demonstrate the following expertise:

  • 6-8 years of experience as operations officer or action officer in the DoD.  US Navy, US Marine Corps or Department of Navy/Secretariat experience is preferred but not essential
  • Ability to track multiple actions for multiple action officers throughout their lifecycle, from initial issuance to action closure
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Flexibility to shift between tasks to support rapidly shifting priorities
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Experience with the current DON tasker systems (DON TRACKER and TV-5) preferred
