  • The Demand Planner is responsible for the development of a rolling 18-month forecast for assigned categories in the Food Service Division.  The Demand Planner creates and maintains forecast models incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales and marketing. Utilizing statistical methods for analysis, the Demand Planner interprets historical data and then applies the analysis to determine the type of forecasting strategies to use within the forecasting software.
  • The demand planner facilitates the monthly consensus process explaining major changes in the forecast from month to month driven by volume trends, business intelligence, and distributions gains/losses. This position leads the dialogue each month for their respective customers and products with key counterparts in Sales and Marketing.

  Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze historical shipment data to identify variability, patterns, and trends.
  • Prepares and interprets reports for forecast and historical data.
  • Works with multiple internal and external departments to achieve consensus forecasts.
  • Assists in administration & maintenance of data.
  • Maintain statistical models and parameters within APO forecasting software.
  • Review, understand and communicate forecast accuracy
  • Achieve metrics on KPI’s such as item forecast accuracy and forecast bias.
  • Work on other projects as needed such as new item tracking or customer-offered programs.

Education and Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in demand and/or supply planning
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Supply Chain, Logistics, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or related field of study).

 Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
  • Knowledge of SAP/APO, Manugistics, or Oracle Demand Planning or other software related to demand planning is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are also essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas, and levels of business affecting the forecast process. Good facilitation skills are required.
  • Highly detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of Sales and Marketing functions preferred.
  • Time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • PC proficiency to include Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint; advanced proficiency in Excel; proficiency in Access preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in similar field preferred
