Pros2Plan, a Spinnaker Company, has been retained by a large Insurance company to hire for the position of a Claims Specialist


This push is to hire workers re-entering the work force.  Position would be a Temp-To-Hire/Perm position and preference would be to hire workers re-entering the work force.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Handle Surety Claims across multiple jurisdictions
  • Within authority limit, evaluate, investigate, negotiate and resolve lower severity claims with moderate supervision.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with a wide spectrum of constituents internally and externally including principals/indemnitors, underwriters and other claims personnel.
  • Promptly and properly develop the facts of a claim through a comprehensive investigation, accurate fact based documentation and prompt contact with all knowledgeable parties.
  • Evaluate complex damages and use knowledge of claim investigations, litigation and industry trends to make appropriate and timely reserves. Manage reserves throughout the life cycle of all files with documentation supporting any reserve changes. 
  • Direct and control the litigation management process and expenses.
  • Proactively manage claim inventory and timely document files with documentation and information to accurately reflect loss development, potential/actual financial exposure, coverage issues and claims. Maintain well documented and articulate file notes that can be read and understood.
  • Complete written reports and make presentations to provide information to management on claim developments.
  • Adhere to all statutory regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts.
  • Maintain all necessary active adjuster licenses and remain current with all CE credit requirements.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a collaborative fashion with a wide spectrum of people, developing and maintaining strong business relationships within Claims and with the Surety Underwriters.
  • Candidate should have technical knowledge in the investigation and analysis of surety claims, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in handling the same. This would include knowledge of insurance contracts and industry trends.
  • The candidate must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must be both service and results driven, highly analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to make timely and appropriate decisions.
  • Good organizational and time management skills required.
  • Ability to accept new challenges as they arise. 
  • Work well with peers to resolve issues and respect and trust colleagues.
  • Experience with handling midlevel exposures and midlevel losses
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high caliber customer claim service
  • Listening and negotiation skills
  • Solid organizational skills to manage own claim inventory under moderate supervision
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with a wide spectrum of people internally and externally.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary licenses.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degrees (e.g., law, accounting, finance, etc.) a plus.
  • Some travel may be required.
